After the Samui Summer 2024 Jazz Kick-off event in April, jazz fans will be delighted to hear that SKÅL International Koh Samui, in collaboration with the Tourism Association of Thailand (TAT), has announced the dates for the annual Samui Summer Jazz Festival 2024. This year’s festival, titled ‘Late Summer Groove,’ will run for three nights from Friday to Sunday, September 13-15, 2024, at three 5-star venues.

For jazz lovers, the Samui Summer Jazz Festival is an unmissable event, offering a rare opportunity to experience top-tier international jazz talent in an idyllic island setting. The blend of soulful performances, stunning venues, and the intimate atmosphere makes this festival a unique celebration of jazz. Whether you’re a seasoned jazz aficionado or a casual listener, the Samui Summer Jazz Festival promises an unforgettable experience that captures the true essence of the genre. Each of the three venues promises a sublime seafront setting for a stunning night of gourmet dining, socializing and music to inspire the senses of all tastes in jazz, and all performed under the stars. 

Leading the event will once again be internationally renowned Dutch tenor sax supremo Alexander Beets supported by a fantastic group of musicians from the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Korea and Thailand and vocalists who will perform a wide range of jazz music from Brazilian bossa nova, blues and soul, to swinging jazz ‘big band’ classics.  As they say in the world of jazz, “When the name Beets is mentioned, jazz lovers listen.”  

Continuing SKÅL’S support for SOS [Sisters on Samui] the event’s proceeds will be donated to their “Music in schools” initiative.”

Friday, September 13th  – ‘Opening Night’ at Six Senses Samui | *Brazilian Vibes*  Alexander Beets Quintet feat. Fleurine Fleurine, a vocalist, composer, lyricist, and authority on Brazilian music, has gained a loyal international following for her “warm, enveloping sound and gentle rhythmic drive” (Los Angeles Times) and her “cunning brand of vocal wizardry.”

Doors open at 6pm, show starts at 7.30 pm  | Sit-down buffet dinner

A sensational evening in the gorgeous beachside garden of SALA Samui Chaweng Beach featuring Blues & Soul with Baer Traa and Thailand’s Jazz Sensation Koh Mr. Saxman. Baer Traa, born into a musical family in Maastricht in 1990, began singing as a boy soprano at seven and playing as a singer/pianist at fifteen. He has trained at the conservatories of Amsterdam and Rotterdam and has won several prestigious awards, including the Dutch Jazz Vocalists Competition. He teams up with Thailand’s leading Jazz Saxophonist Koh Mr. Saxman and his band.

Doors open at 6pm, and the show starts at 7.30 pm. Sit-down dinner or casual cocktail-style.

Sunday, September 15th  ‘Grand Finale’ Jazz BRUNCH at  Kimpton Kitalay | *Swinging Jazz Classics* Jointenor sax supremo Alexander Beets – festival director who will lead all his musicians in a sensational afternoon of world class jazz at the Kimpton Kitalay with special guests: Charlie Philips [Netherlands], Fabio Lannino [Italy], Chukiat Srisakul ‘Pui’ [Thailand], Jihee [South Korea] and Miguel Rodrigues from Spain. At this special Jazz Brunch, guests can expect an amazing atmosphere and an afternoon of memorable musical entertainment overlooking Samui’s stunning Choeng Mon Beach.

Doors open at 12.30 pm and concert starts at 1.00 pm. Buffet Brunch or casual lounge area.
